PROJECT'S OBJECTIVES

1.     Identification of the most suitable sweet cherry creation stand point the adaptability, the resistance at the main pathogenic agents, the quality, a.s.o.

2.     Studies and analysis of the biological material took under observation.

3.     New hybrids combination implementation.

4.     Characterization and analysis of the biological material.

5.     Choosing the most productive creations with higher quality and a proper behavior in the grafting process.

6.     Homologation the most valuable biological creations (new varieties), results communication and presentation.

7.     Launching on the market of the most valuable creations scion-rootstock quality competitiveness with increased resistance at biotic an abiotic factors for the sweet cherry species.

THE PROJECT'S TECHNICAL, ECONOMICAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT

The innovation degree of the present project to result of introducing new varieties engrafted on much more compatible rootstocks, for the adequate type of soil in the specific crop aria, which shall direct to:

  • A new brink in value of the varieties biological potential.
  • Increasing exploitation length of the fruit tree crop.
  • Increasing fruits yields per ha.
  • Decreasing the number of fitosanitary treatments.
  • Increasing consumption period of fresh fruits by outrunning the present assortment with cca 10-15 days and prolongation with 5-10 days.
  • Increasing fruits quality in aspect, organoleptic and nutritive factors.
  • Diversification suitable fruits trends (fresh consumption and processing).
  • Reconstruction fruit tree patrimony for sweet cherry species.

Economical impact is evident having in view that new varieties shall have high productivity capacity and obvious smaller costs price for establishment and maintenance.

Increase fruits yields/ha as a result of new varieties high productivity which will direct to a:

  • Decreased the cost price/t fruits.
  • Decreased maintenance spending of an orchard ha.
  • The possibility of an increased consumption of fruit/inhabitant.
  • The beneficiary will have the satisfaction of an increased profit per surface unit and possibility to align at world market conditions for finite products quality (fruit and engrafted fruit tree).

Social impact. The consumption of fruit less polluted with chemical substances.

The promotion of the new varieties with a different ripening period, resistance or tolerance at different pathogenic agents and less fitosanitary treatments will direct to:

  • Expanding fresh fruits consumption period with at least 2 weeks comparing to the present.
  • Utilization the shone in labour available in this moment.

Environmental impact. The new variety creations require less fitosanitary treatments, fact which will have a beneficent effect upon the environment, environment protection and population’s health.

A increased fruit trees cultivated surface will direct to:

  • Mentaining ecological equilibrium in the aria.
  • A better utilization of climate and soil natural resource which, in this region, are very favourable for sweet cherry crops.

CAPITALIZATION/SPREADING PLAN

The potential recipients of this project's results will be:

The project is constituted in the finite material (new varieties) and date base for a large category of utilzers: small and medium farms and even natural person and legal entity agricultural land-lord.

Each new variety was created or studied in the respect of ecological adaptability and owe a date base for origin’s place, usage and way of utilization, which comes with it when the variety will be first launched.

That date base is materialized in several aspects: synthetic card of product, technological card of exploitation possibility and utilization way, group and extension degree.

The owner is particularized in official register of varieties accepted for multiplication in Romania for maintain oneself of the new sweet cherry varieties and certified for producer of fruit tree planting material, thus all, implementing the realization conditions and the dissemination of research results, homologated, for producing and sale grafting fruit tree.

Multiple paths and means will be realized by spreading the results:

The project results application ways could be seen in the new orchards which will be set up using new sweet cherry varieties and also which will be used as genetic material in the future improvement programmes.

Scientific papers and reports with partial or final results presented at scientific sessions, symposium and congresses for publishing.

Presenting new varieties at specific meetings (workshops, work inspecting, and briefing).

Guarantee initial material for multiplication.

Producing biological material of dissemination at international standards.

Elaboration varieties synthetic card for presentation.

Guiding books.

Brochures, folders, CD-ROM.

Internet WEB Page.
